James Hummel, Ed.D., is an educational leader, curriculum designer, and advocate for inclusive, tech-integrated learning. He recently earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Los Angeles, where he also completed his M.A. in Educational Technology Leadership. His doctoral research focused on assistive technology training for special education teachers, bridging innovation with equity to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
James began his teaching career with Los Angeles Unified School District, where he spent seven years as a special educator supporting high school students with moderate-to-severe autism. He has since expanded his work to include instructional design, LCAP strategy, post-secondary transition planning, and educational product development.
Before entering education, James worked in IT and telecommunications, giving him a unique ability to integrate emerging technologies into classroom practice. He also holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Davis & Elkins College and a B.A. Honours in Digital Film and Television Production from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he graduated in 2007.
James now combines his background in storytelling, technology, and education to design accessible, creative, and future-focused learning experiences—inspiring both students and the educators who support them.
