James is an IT professional and was previously working with an international telecommunications company before returning to higher education to pursue a bachelor degree in Digital Film and Television Production. He completed his degree in June 2007, specializing in Digital Post Production, with emphasis on editing. He recently contracted as a freelance Editor at TED's Post-Production in Hollywood, where he performed mostly duplication services utilizing multiple Beta and BetaSP decks, working from a BlackMagic card.
James' education allowed him substantial hands-on opportunities in learning the different aspects of production including camera operation, lighting, sound recording and writing.
He is a fast learner with analytical abilities and possesses the ability to combine technical knowledge and soft-skills to communicate complicated ideas in a simple and succinct way. These skills are important in a time-tight environment and have benefited him when producing and directing film projects.
In January 2006, James' writing skills accorded him an opportunity with BBC reviewing area events. His work ethic and training also helped in securing a production internship at KTSF in San Francisco to work on an Emmy-nominated weekly television magazine, The Night Shift.
The short film he Produced at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, BATHTIME, was runner up BBC New Talent Awards 2007. It was aired nationally in the UK on December 15, 2007.
