Written and Directed by Chris Fallen, SPARE CHANGE is the story of an unlikely friendship between two creatures surviving the mean streets of the city.
Glasgow City Council's "I Belong to Glasgow" campaign was the inspiration for this series of short films we produced this year.
The challenge we faced was the mismatch of color temperatures during this very typical Glasgow day, where if you don't like the weather, wait a minute. It was raining miserably most of the day, and we battled a very late sunrise and a very early sunset. I darkened a scene shot early in the day to give us the ending we were looking for. I also graded the piece to give it a more "filmic" look and to help create the dreary atmosphere. Working with the composer we were able to develop a score that also helps in setting the tone as well. I particularly like the pigeon's theme.
